The Mid-Carolina AHEC, Inc. offers the Health Careers Academy (HCA) for high school students. The HCA activities promote academic success, career development and personal growth for students.

Mid-Carolina AHEC Inc. offers two in-person academy locations.

Midlands Location:

Richland County

Lexington County

Fairfield County

Academy Enrollment Details

Academy Dates

The Health Careers Academy conducts its sessions annually from September-April.

Each new academic year begins with an orientation held in August.

Academy Expectations

Participants in the program are required to attend all meetings, with no more than 3 absences permitted. Students should consistently maintain high academic standards and engagement during their time in the program.

Enrollment Process

We are NOW accepting applications for the 2025-2026 academic year! Applications are due no later than Friday, June 20, 2025 via email. Coordinator emails are located on the respective enrollment forms.

The Health Careers Academy provides complimentary ACT/SAT Test Preparation September-April, equipping students with the tools and confidence needed to excel in their future academic endeavors.

For More Information

This is my second year in the Health Careers Program and it has been an amazing experience. I have learned a lot of new things! This program has given me a lot of hands-on opportunities and is preparing me for life after high school.
